Up to your navel in oranges? Try a citrus facial mask! ~Mimi B.

One great thing about eating in season is that your body is naturally getting nutrients it needs when it needs it most.

Sitting smack dab in the middle of winter (yes this IS winter for LA) our bodies are calling for lots of vitamin C to help keep our immune system strong, helping stave off colds & flu.  We all know that oranges are high in C, so it's no coincidence that we now see an abundance of this citrus at the grocery store, farmers market, in our CSA boxes and on our kitchen counters!

If the kids lips are pursed from popping too many Cuties, repurpose some pulp and make a zesty citrus facial.  The citric acid will brighten up a dull complexion and the orange oil can help with blemishes.

Ok gorgeous, now go brighten someone else's day- bring a bag of oranges to an elderly neighbor or a sick friend.  Their immune systems will thank you for it.  Read on for the 'recipe'.

Citrus Facial Mask:  Peel and puree 4 small oranges, any variety.  Mix with 1/2 cup of ground rolled oats, 3 Tbsp raw honey and 2 tsp jojoba oil.  Apply to your face and leave on for 10 minutes.  Before you rinse off, breath deeply and get the added benefit of the mood-boosting aroma of citrus.  (adapted from a Whole Living article)
